Calm software for the screens you live with.

9L Labs makes apps for televisions, desktops and the web: radio, art and living scenes that sit quietly in a room and simply work.

What we make

Different screens, one idea: a screen can be a good presence in a room.

Ambient radio and art for your TV

Internet radio you choose, a visualizer that moves with the music, and art inspired by living folk traditions.

A living koi pond for your desktop

A painterly garden pond where koi drift, turn and gather. Made to run as a screensaver or a quiet window beside your work.

How we work

Our apps live on the biggest screen in the house, often for hours. They should be beautiful at a glance and easy to ignore when you are not looking.

No ads and no third-party trackers. Our apps keep only what a feature needs to work, and say so plainly.

A television is not a browser. Every release is checked on physical TVs before it goes to a store.

Plain technology, a written record of every decision, and art that credits its sources.

Where you will find us

We build for each platform's own store and remote, not a lowest common denominator.

Platforms, stores, distributors and collaborators: we would like to hear from you.
